In today’s digital-first environment, the performance and perception of a leading B-school are closely tied to its online presence and communication strategy. With information readily accessible, it is essential for institutions to provide a clear and credible window into their academic ecosystem. This responsibility is led by the Media and PR Cell. The Media and PR Cell serves as the public face of the Institute, ensuring that key developments and achievements are effectively communicated. From international rankings and faculty accolades to student successes at national and global platforms, the cell highlights the Institute’s milestones with clarity and consistency. Recognizing the importance of digital touchpoints, the cell actively manages the Institute’s presence across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, PagalGuy, and the official website. Regular updates on academic activities, industry interactions, competitions, and campus events allow aspirants and stakeholders to stay informed and engaged. Beyond digital outreach, the Media and PR Cell plays a vital role in building and sustaining relationships with peer B-schools and external stakeholders. By coordinating with PR teams across institutions, the cell facilitates information flow on intercollegiate competitions and collaborative opportunities, keeping students well informed and the Institute well connected. A significant responsibility of the Media and PR Cell lies in managing the MBA admissions process. From the release of application forms to final on-campus reporting, the cell supports planning, communication, and execution at every stage. It acts as the primary point of contact for applicants, assists with queries, coordinates interview schedules, and manages post- interview communication, ensuring a smooth and transparent admissions experience. Through strategic communication and sustained engagement, the Media and PR Cell continues to strengthen the visibility, credibility, and reputation of DoMS and IIT Roorkee within the academic and corporate ecosystem.
The Placement Committee at the Department of Management Studies IIT Roorkee is responsible for managing the complete placement process for the department. The team communicates with the corporate in regards to meetings, talks, negotiations, invitations, and the final selection of students to ensure that everyone participating in this process benefits.
The DoMS IIT Roorkee Placement Cell works to ensure that the recruitment process is successful for all candidates, with the goal of achieving a 100% placement record every year. The committee consists of members selected through a layered process. The placement committee is headed by the Training and Placement Officer(TPO) who collectively works towards the objective of acquainting the students of the department with industries. The process is centralized, with placement committees vetting the CVs, forwarding them to companies, setting up interviews, and communicating job offers. The final placement is an activity that every student looks forward to with tremendous anticipation and hope. Since students enter employment and begin on yet another road of self-reliance and self-fulfillment, it marks the conclusion of hard work, optimism, and goal for the future. As a result, it is an important milestone for each student, and the placement committee serves as a facilitator to assist students in reaching this goal. The cell organizes and extends services toward collaborative placement activities to attain the ultimate objective.
The primary responsibilities of the placement committee include:
★ Managing and maintaining corporate relations of the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee
★ Organizing and coordinating recruitment activities and other related engagements on campus
★ Responsible for identifying the prospective recruiters based on batch profile & requirements
★ Exploring new opportunities for student live projects and student corporate interactions in addition to the placement activities
★ Creating awareness among students regarding available career options, helping them in identifying their career objectives, and acting as a bridge between students, alumni, and recruiters
We are tasked with not only bringing recruiters to the campus but also training and preparing the students for the placement cycle. The committee helps right from building the CV of the students to that of giving them an idea of how to tackle personal interviews. The students are assigned placement representatives who guide them with placement training, queries, and other placement-related activities. The relatively small batch size helps the students as well as placement representatives to better focus on the training of students which in turn helps the department achieve splendid placement figures year on year.

The Industry Academia Relations Cell (IARC) is a dynamic, student-driven body functioning under the Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Roorkee. Its primary objective is to strengthen and sustain the institute’s corporate engagement by facilitating meaningful interaction between students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders for all non-placement activities. IARC plays a dual role in nurturing industry–institute collaboration. First, it acts as a vital conduit connecting DoMS, IIT Roorkee, with the corporate world, creating platforms where academicians, budding managers, industry stalwarts, and thought leaders can exchange ideas, perspectives, and insights. Second, through its year-round initiatives, guest sessions, and experiential engagements, IARC ensures that students gain exposure to contemporary business practices while complementing their classroom learning. The Cell is committed to cultivating a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship between the institute and the industry. With a robust network of over 2,000 accomplished alumni across 300+ leading organizations in India and abroad, IARC proudly celebrates a legacy of excellence. The achievements of our alumni stand as a testament to their dedication, capabilities, and the academic rigour at DoMS. IARC also serves as a bridge that keeps our alumni connected to their alma mater—enabling them to share corporate experiences and mentor the next generation of DoMS through regular events and interactive forums.
