In today’s digital-first environment, the performance and perception of a leading B-school are closely tied to its online presence and communication strategy. With information readily accessible, it is essential for institutions to provide a clear and credible window into their academic ecosystem. This responsibility is led by the Media and PR Cell. The Media and PR Cell serves as the public face of the Institute, ensuring that key developments and achievements are effectively communicated. From international rankings and faculty accolades to student successes at national and global platforms, the cell highlights the Institute’s milestones with clarity and consistency. Recognizing the importance of digital touchpoints, the cell actively manages the Institute’s presence across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, PagalGuy, and the official website. Regular updates on academic activities, industry interactions, competitions, and campus events allow aspirants and stakeholders to stay informed and engaged. Beyond digital outreach, the Media and PR Cell plays a vital role in building and sustaining relationships with peer B-schools and external stakeholders. By coordinating with PR teams across institutions, the cell facilitates information flow on intercollegiate competitions and collaborative opportunities, keeping students well informed and the Institute well connected. A significant responsibility of the Media and PR Cell lies in managing the MBA admissions process. The DoMS IIT Roorkee Placement Cell works to ensure that the recruitment process is successful for all candidates, with the goal of achieving a 100% placement record every year. The committee consists of members selected through a layered process. The placement committee is headed by the Training and Placement Officer(TPO) who collectively works towards the objective of acquainting the students of the department with industries. The process is centralized, with placement committees vetting the CVs, forwarding them to companies, setting up interviews, and communicating job offers. The final placement is an activity that every student looks forward to with tremendous anticipation and hope. Since students enter employment and begin on yet another road of self-reliance and self-fulfillment, it marks the conclusion of hard work, optimism, and goal for the future. As a result, it is an important milestone for each student, and the placement committee serves as a facilitator to assist students in reaching this goal. The cell organizes and extends services toward collaborative placement activities to attain the ultimate objective.

The primary responsibilities of the placement committee include:

The Communication Committee at the Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Roorkee plays an essential role in representing the department and serving as its voice. One of the committee’
Competing in a highly competitive MBA system, where there are largely identical degree programs with no real differentiating attributes, there is also very little differentiation between MBA graduates due to their academic background. However, true differentiation amongst graduates will occur when they are able to demonstrate how they can utilize that knowledge learned in school after they leave the classroom or on the job. The Competition Committee helps create that differentiated capability. As a catalyst for experiential learning, the Competition Committee helps students in ability testing (analytical, strategic, and decision-making) in real competitive situations (competitions), while providing competitive challenges that replicate nationally recognized competitions (case study competitions, strategy simulations, and management competitions) as well as intra- departmental/intra-college competitions to create a strong culture of positive competition and continual learning. In addition to organizing the events, the committee provides valuable support to aid students in preparing for the challenges. This support includes a series of structured preparation sessions, workshops, and seminars focused on introducing students to basic management concepts in a variety of areas and providing training to allow students to develop an understanding of how to solve problems in a logical, clear, creative, and independent way. Ultimately, these efforts equip participants to transition from the theoretical frameworks of textbook knowledge and into a more solutions-focused way of thinking needed for internships, live projects, and final placements. The purpose of the Competition Committee is to be the conduit of information between the students and the various available competitions. The committee's job is to provide an ongoing collection of competitive opportunities from leading business schools and corporations for students to have a national comparison point. As many of the platforms are designed to produce real-world results such as Pre-Placement Interviews (PPI), Pre-Placement Offers (PPO), and Summer Internships, they are valuable for students to become involved in and compete on a national level. The Competition Committee runs year-round, employing a mix of creative and flexible members. The committee encourages and fosters a culture of creativity, flexibility, and responsibility among its members. The committee hopes to attract individuals who identify with those same qualities. There are a variety of roles within the committee, from social media person to creative designer, from data curator to spokesperson; each position provides its own set of unique challenges and perspectives on committee work. Together, this variety of perspectives allows for collaboration and execution to ensure the committee produces impactful competition opportunities while developing professionals who will proudly represent IIT Roorkee at a national level.
